Set on the site once known as Union House, the Etihad Museum tells the story of the formation of the United Arab Emirates, its Founding Fathers and the nation’s journey towards shaping a bright future.
We were selected by Dubai Culture & Arts Authority to develop resources and programs for families, students and teachers visiting the new museum.
The Etihad Museum serves as a new educational facility in Dubai for families and schools and tells the story of the unification within a spectacular building on the historical site of the signing of the Union in 1971. The Museum is a rich resource for visitors showing historic objects, immersive films, interactive exhibits whilst informed staff tell the story of unification and explain its relevance to today’s generation.
The School Resources are presented as Student and Teachers Packs and help students and educators prepare for and structure their visits. Building on formal learning in the classroom, the content is aligned to the UAE curriculum and provides support for before, during and after the visit.
The Family Pack provides a tool for families to guide their own visit to the Museum. The fun and varied activities encourages every member of the family group to participate, creating memorable and engaging inter-generational experiences. The Family Pack takes families throughout the Museum, helping them explore the historic site, uncover surprising facts and discover hidden treasures. The launch of the different resources was covered in several Emirati press outlets as part of the International Museum Day, including WAM Emirates News Agency, Khaleej Times, Dubai Informer and Trade Arabia
We devised school programs for elementary, middle and high school students. The Elementary School Program is an interactive storytelling, featuring props and costumes to help young students learn about how the country came together. The Middle School Program transports students back to the first National Day in 1971, turning them into the journalists and using the Museum’s resources to report on the significant day. The High School Program engages older students to consider the social and cultural fabric of the country and consider their role as future shapers. Through exploration of the Museum’s galleries, they develop teamwork and presentation skills and pledge to become active citizens and members of their communities.
