London based Joe Martin and Mishkat’s Shama Al Hawawi were invited to UCL Qatar to share their expertise on developing interactive exhibits.
They used their extensive experience to run an engaging and participatory training course, helping participants to understand how an exhibit can be designed to attract and hold visitors’ attention and how it will work in an exhibition space.
Joe and Shama have designed exhibits across different subjects, age groups and cultures. The course considered how Gulf audiences differ to those in the UK and USA and how these insights into visitor behaviors can be used to predict which exhibits with work for each destination.
The course mixed theory with practical skills, using case studies, examples of best practice and participants developing prototypes and fabricating exhibits of their own.
